Introduction week 2022Start of training and study course

In this as in previous years, for sixteen junior staff the training and dual study course began with a collective five-day starter week, with the emphasis not just on getting to know the company from the ground up but also establishing initial contact with one another. The first part of the get-to-know days started at the headquarters in Ispringen, while team building came into focus after the weekend.

The very first day began with a short introductory session in which the newcomers interviewed the neighbours sitting next to them. In the afternoon we focused on Rutronik's business model, its company history and getting to know the company premises.

On Friday, the “Business Etiquette” module was all about manners at the workplace. A presentation of the E-Academy was followed by a buddy meeting where we were able to ask former dual-study students and trainees about the vocational training college and the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) and gain an insight into what we can expect in the individual departments. At the end of the day, we played a round of games in which we had to collect points to win the training rally. The rally goes through Ispringen and is designed to familiarise newbies with the area around the HQ.

The following week began with a tour of the logistics centre in Eisingen. Back in Ispringen we were introduced to the sales department by Mr Werner, and learned about the department’s different tasks and responsibilities. There was a further presentation by Mr Rubländer who explained the tasks of the marketing department. After lunch, Mr Nabinger taught us all about the hazards of the internet and how we can protect ourselves.

The following morning, we met early to set out on our journey together to Oberderdingen to the Flehingen castle education centre. We checked into our rooms at the castle and then gathered in the seminar room.

Our future HR managers, Mr Hary and Ms Sievers, explained the basic theory of communication and team building, following which we were asked to put the theory into practice by playing some team games.

The day ended cosily in the castle cellar after an evening BBQ.

The final day of the starter week began after breakfast with a business simulation game. This was followed by a quiz about all the things we had learned over the previous days.

Finally, we all walked through Oberderdingen with GPS sat navs which we had to use to solve a fictional murder case. We then all returned to Ispringen on the bus.

Tomorrow the trainees will start work in their departments, whereas the students can enjoy their free time until October.
